Who are us?
Fragas do Mandeo consists of a board and a team of volunteers. All of them altruistically contribute their skills and professional experience, devoting the free time left by work and family.
Board of trustees
Fernando Bandín, who has a degree in computing from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, currently works at a financial institution. Vocational naturalist and wildlife photographer, he is coauthor of the book Nature Photographers , having published in diverse media.
Antón Vázquez, a graduate of Biology and Veterinary Science at the University of Santiago de Compostela, works for a livestock farmers association. He specializes in biodiversity and natural heritage; he has been involved in the conservation of the environment in Galicia for years.
Juan Manuel Neira, graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the ETSEA at the University of Lleida. He is a Technology teacher at a high school, having previously worked as a technical teacher of Agricultural Vocational Training. He has coordinated and taken part in environmental projects at educational centres.
Collaborating companies
CPR Gestión is a consultancy firm specialized in providing support services for administrative and financial management of companies, including personnel selection and training. This firm deals with the accountancy and administrative management of Fragas do Mandeo, a service for which it makes no charge.
Volunteers
Carlos R. Silvar, Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, works in industrial design and as an illustrator in the publishing world, where his guides on the nature of Galicia are well known.
Óscar Vázquez, trained as an Industrial Engineer at the University of Vigo, works in a company involved in the electricity sector. Vocational naturalist concerned about biodiversity in Galicia, he has extensive field experience.
Fernanda Gil is a graduate in Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She has lived in Germany since 1990, where she works in a department that gives advice to immigrants. She has generously taken responsibility for the translation of our website into German.
Esther Bandín studied English Philology at the University of A Coruña and currently works for a veterinary laboratory that belongs to a multinational corporation. Having some knowledge of several languages, she translates our website into English.
Santiago Vázquez, with a diploma in Business Science from the University of A Coruña, is a partner in a company that sells agricultural and gardening products. Amateur ornithologist, he is well acquainted with the avifauna of the Betanzos estuary.
Kevin Hannavy has a first degree and a doctorate in Biochemistry from the Universities of Sussex and Oxford respectively; he is a Chemistry teacher at the British boarding school Christ’s Hospital. Fond of nature and ecology, he also professes a deep interest in Spanish culture.
